What Is the Zone?
The Zone is a temporary power-up state that dramatically enhances a character's stats for a short duration. When a character enters the Zone, they receive a 40% boost to all offensive stats and a 25% boost to speed and reaction time. The screen darkens with a signature visual effect and the character's eyes glow — a faithful recreation of the anime's iconic moments. Only characters rated SR or higher can enter the Zone, and each character can only activate it once per match.
Entry Conditions and Triggers
A character becomes Zone-eligible when three conditions are met simultaneously: their stamina is above 60%, their team is trailing or tied in score, and they have successfully used at least two active skills during the current match. Once eligible, the Zone has a 30% chance to activate on each offensive possession, increasing by 10% for each additional possession until it triggers. You can guarantee activation by using a character's ultimate skill while Zone-eligible, which forces immediate Zone entry.
Maximizing Zone Duration
The Zone lasts for 45 seconds of in-game time by default, but every successful scoring action extends it by 5 seconds, up to a maximum of 75 seconds total. To maximize uptime, chain offensive actions as quickly as possible once the Zone activates. Avoid turnovers and defensive possessions during Zone, as time ticks down regardless of who has the ball. If you have a timeout available, using it right before Zone expires can reset the action clock and squeeze out one more possession.
Countering the Opponent's Zone
When an opponent enters the Zone, your priority shifts to stalling and running out their timer. Switch to a defensive formation and prioritize long possessions with extensive passing. Characters with the "Pressure" passive — like Akashi or Imayoshi — can reduce the opponent's Zone duration by 10 seconds when they successfully steal or block. If you have your own Zone-eligible character, activating your Zone in response creates a "Double Zone" scenario where both buffs partially cancel out, leveling the playing field.
